David Suzuki's brilliant program, The Nature of Things, and their production of Black Wave, The Legacy of the Exxon Valdez. It's hard to come away from watching this with anything resembling optimism for how things will go in the Gulf of Mexico. BP, like Exxon has a cadre of lawyers who will drag this through the courts for years and years and it matters not that people will lose their livelihoods and delicate ecosystems will be devestated. Whatever they end up paying in fines and cleanup costs will amount to a slap on the wrist in relatiion to the massive profits these corporations reap.
